2021 Ram 1500 is now available
The Ram 1500 has long been the go-to choice for a pickup that combines power, capability, and a high degree of technology. The new 2021 model is now available for sale in our Milton, Ontario dealership. What are the highlights of this latest version of the award-winning half-ton truck?
Engine and Transmission
The Ram 1500 range has always been blessed with a wide range of engine formats, and the 2021 version is no different. The standard engine is a gasoline 3.6L V6 producing a hefty 305 horsepower, paired with a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. Moving up to the next tier, there's a 5.7L V8 gas model which puts out 395 horsepower and 410lb-ft, increasing the capability considerably. Both of these engines are available with a 48V mild-hybrid system, which has little impact on fuel economy but is used to power accessories to reduce the load on Ram's battery. A further option is a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel engine, bringing 280 horsepower and a trailer-friendly 480lb-ft to the party. The final option is brand new for 2021 and sees the eagerly awaited introduction of the Hellcat 6.2L supercharged V8 which pushes a mighty 702 horsepower out to four-wheel drive, creating a performance that's closer to a street racer demon than a workhorse truck.
Drive Quality
With all these engine options available, the different Ram models have a wide range of performance figures. However, all models offer a smooth and comfortable drive, with the coil or air suspension options adding to the feeling of assured stability.
Towing and Payload Capacity
The 2021 Ram 1500 can carry a payload of up to 1,052kg, impressive enough, but it's in towing that the model really shines. Choose a high-torque diesel engine and the towing capacity can reach a huge 5,873kg, right up there with the best-in-class capability levels.
Interior and Technology
Ram is known for their high provision of tech inside the cab, leading the way compared to other manufacturers who still consider a truck's interior to be merely functional. There's a choice of infotainment touchscreens, with 8.4" as standard and 12" available as an upgrade on every model except the base. The system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone integration, along with other handy features from Bluetooth to a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety Features
Another strong point of the 2021 Ram 1500 is its excellent safety technology. Standard and available options range from blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, to emergency forward braking with pedestrian detection.
